i believe the hot setup for this was a York from a volvo that was mounted in tandem with the Volvo PS pump. the volvo bracket holds all this together and i think it just bolts to the side of the block.

York shmork.... they are overrrated and there is no need to run them unless they easily bolt to what you already have.

The real hot ticket is the A6 compressor. Should fit right on the 350. Someone who frequents this website has the same engine as you ans uses this compressor for on board air... check it out:

the York is a great compressor, but the a6 or any of the radial ompressors can work just as well, some say with slightly less longevity but I cant say as Ive never used one.

the difference is the York has its own oil resivior, while the a6 doesnt, so youll have to squirt some oil into the a6 from time to time. no biggy, it should be easy to find the brackets and compressor ( a6) at a junkyard, to bolt it right up.

or you could make some brackets to hold a York, it just depdnds on how much work you want to do, and what you can find cheap.

Not true.... the A6 has its own internal oil sump.

 

So what vehicles have the A6?

 

Most chevy's V8's of that vintage will have them.

From what I gather, a few different companies made them.... Delco, Harrison and Frigidaire.

Believe it or not, there are Chevy factory V8 brackets out there for the York compressor. I found mine in a Chevy 20 van, early 70's. I also seen them in a Chevy 10 vans of the same vintage too. Maybe they were only used in vans, because I've never seen one anywhere else. A van engine compartment would be better suited for the York vs. the A6.

The bracket is set up for the long water pump and even has a little tensioning idler pulley on it. I haven't installed mine yet because I have a short water pump, so the bracket need to be modified.

The reason I like the York over the A6 is that Yorks are a dime a dozen around here and the fittings on the top are easy to adapt to. Just my $0.02.

ok, you got me there cj, I didnt realize there was a radial compressor with an internal oil sump, I was lumping them all together, assuming they were all the same

what are the radials used on later model AMC cars?

I have a chevy 305 with a serpintine belt setup. I don't believe I can use a york, is that correct?

I have a compressor that I just hooked up. It came with the motor and its not the a6.

It seems to work pretty good I just have to complete the project by finding a big oiler and filter. Once I get these two things, I am ready to mount everything for good.
