I have a 1994 Suzuki Vitara which I shipped from Puerto Rico a couple of years ago. My problem is everytime I want to order any types of replacments/parts everyone tells me they can't find the parts because with the Vitara here in the states it was first introduced in 1998 or so.

My questions is can I use sidekick parts in Vitara's? Is it really the same model, with different names?

Thanks,

Suzvit

Somebody correct me on this if I am wrong...

What you have is a Vitara-badged Sidekick (or what we, in the US, call a Sidekick which to everyone else in the world is a Vitara).

To quote everybody's favorite Vulcan, "The difference that represents no difference IS no difference."

All that high-comedy out of the way, I believe that, with a few possible exceptions, your Vitara is a Sidekick equivalent. There may be some gearing differences. The exhaust downpipe may be different. Stuff like that.

My bet is all that counts on your vehicle (engine, brakes, expendibles lenses, bulbs, etc) is equivalant to that of a '94 Kick.

For what it's worth, my friends and I took the drivetrain and other stuff (wiring, hvac, steering column, gas tank, etc.) out of an 89 2 door soft top Sidekick (Ack is right..they call it a Vitara elsewhere in the world) and put it all in the body shell and frame of a 95 2 door soft top Tracker. I don't think we ran into a single thing that was different, right down to the bolt hole locations. We even reused some minor body structure parts from the 89 in the grille area and they fit.

hope this helps,
