I just bought a fc with a 134 hurricane engine. My question is what would be the best way to get more power?? The tranny is a 3 speed. I pull a teardrop trailer and the 134 just doesn't have it. I have heard that the Buick V-6 is a good match but is there room as the engine sits between the seats???? What will a Pinto engine do or is it best to soup up the 134???? Will the runnig gear hold up???? Would appreciate all answers.----Thanks, Clint

I don't have a clue on the fc-150's but the first thing that popped into my mind when you said you had space considerations on the engine due to the location was a samarui 4 cylinder and maybe the drive train depending on how much strength it needs to have. They are pretty compact and may be something to look into.

As a former fc150 owner I looked into the same. I had decided on the buick as the adaptor for the bell housing is readily available. In fact the 225 was used in many late 60s to early 70 jeepsters and cj5s. I believe a bit of body lift will prevent the need to modify the cover. I had all the parts for the conversion but had to sell as I moved long distence and had no room at the new place.

That being said I think the pinto motor (2300)is the best option; however the bellhousing adaptor is hard to find. Novak used to make one and it was a common swap for the fhead in flatties. I hear novak was going to start making it again check their web cite. Much good info. look at the info for adapting to the t90. You most likly will want to stay with that tranny (unless you go auto) because it is a side shifter and uniquely set up for the cabover of the FC. There was a recent fc 150 on ebay with the pinto setup that looked great. By the way let me know if you might want to sell.....

If anyone is looking for a Novak Pinto to T90 adapter, I have one still new in the box that I bought about 12 years ago. It adapts a Pinto bellhousing to the T90 case. PM me if interested. I bought it for my M38A1 but will probably never use it. I am planning on just rebuilding the F-head and keeping it original.

Since Greg already hijacked, I'm gonna jump on too. Sorry.
I'm calling chop!!
Look at the body corner above the rear tire. Just doesn't seem right.
Look through the windows. The backgrounds don't jive.
Still cool as heck, but I'm thinking chopped.
And now back to our regularly scheduled program......

Your right it is a chop.
But a pretty good one no??
I didn't do it and I wish I could find the original picture. It was pretty cool also.
