future service help

I'm new to this site and to youth quads. My son is seven and wanted to ride a quad. I reconditioned an old TRX125 for him. I had it governed all the way down and did not teach him to shift. He rode pretty good but I still felt this quad was to big for him to handle. It is very wide and controls are set up for young adult. I am now going to do what I should have done then and purchase a new youth quad.I have read alot of comments on this sight and most lean towards the Kasea. I have a lawn mower dealer that sells Kasea's within three miles of the house. I also have Extreme and Polaris dealers resonably close. My concern is I was not overly impressed with the kasea dealers attitude. I looked on the internet and there are only 4 Kasea dealers in NJ. I am concerned if there is a warranty or parts issue. There are about 15 or 20 Polaris dealers in NJ. Also whats the long term outlook for Kasea if I pass the bike to my younger kids. I would appreciate any insight into these concerns.

Re: future service help

During the last year while reading 6 other mini-quad forums, I've noticed there are very little problems with the 2003 Polaris Predator 90. There seems to be many reports of strators, starters, electrical and frame welds breaking around the injection tank going of the 2004 brand. More reports from "real riders" then the norm of other brands. If wondering, we own a 2003 Pred-90. The Pred-90 does NOT have an optional factory light or a factory foot brake. I mounted a customized 35 watt light on our Pred-90. In the future, I'll be installing a foot brake on our unit too. On the positive side, the Pred-90 has the most stock suspension movement and the most balanced shocks/springs then all other brands.

The Kasea Skyhawk 90 has been reported by many as a great mini. Optional front light, factory foot brake, lots of available parts, etc. If Kasea was availabile in my area, I'd have a very serious look at this unit. The only 3rd party upgrade I'd do on this brand is immediately install Nerf Bars. Due to lack of factory floor boards, nerf bars stop the riders feet from accidentally being run over. Floor boards or nerf bars are a must in my books.

The Xtreme Tantrum 100 is also a great brand. I've seen very few "improvement or repair" requests on this model. If Xtreme was availabile in my area, I'd have a very serious look at this unit too. The only negative I've seen with this model is posted within: http://forums.atvsource.com/viewtopic.php?t=26134

If this is your first mini-quad, take a serious look at Kasea (you may have to put up with some attitude from your current dealer) and the Xtreme brand. If wondering, the warranty returns on most minis are extremely low. If wondering, we've NEVER had to take our Pred-90 back to our dealer. If Kasea and Xtreme have better service warranty records, you may never have to face your local "bad attitude" Kasea dealer again.

PS. Don't forget to look at the 04 E-Ton Viper 90R and the Dinli brands too. The '04 E-Ton has factory reverse, which is a mandatory feature for many trail riders.

Hope this helps...

I have never heard that the new E-Ton had reverse. I was talking to Greg from Peak Powersports today and that never came up. Can anybody verify this. I thought engine and drive train on Eton are the same as polaris and kasea.
