Skyhawk 50 running problem

I've got a problem with my daughters Skyhawk thats having running problems. After it warms up it will run for a few seconds then slowly die like its running out of gas. I know both the gas and oil tanks are full. The ATV is also pretty new.

What I've done so far...I first changed the plug to the non-resistor type (I forgot the number and don'thave it in front of me now but it was an NGK 7 something.) I also checked the exhaust and was going to remove the restrictor but found it was not there. That was kinda strange since I bought it new but either way it was gone.

Any advice?

Dave

Re: Skyhawk 50 running problem

It sounds like you got something in the carb. I'd remove the carb, take off the fuel bowl and clean it. Take out the jets and blow them out with air. While you have the fuel line disconnected and the gas off, run the hose into a small can and open the petcock to make sure you have fuel flow. But before you remove the carb, take off the breather hose thats on the fuel cap and make sure it is not restricted. Also make sure the air cleaner is clean.

Re: Skyhawk 50 running problem

There is a vaccuum line on the carb that runs to the fuel pump on the tank. If the line is cracked or leaking , it will not pump fuel properly. There is an exhaust restrictor on the Mini 50 only. The regular Skyhawk 50 does not have this.
