Is there a choke on a 2001 Polaris Sportsman

Son has a 2001 Sportsman 90 and I don't see an external choke and is hard to start in cold weather. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Re: Is there a choke on a 2001 Polaris Sportsman

The choke on the 2001 and 2002 Sportsman are electric automatic chokes. The new 2003 Sportsman 90 has a manual choke. I guess the company has received a lot of feedback from people like yourself on hard starting.

I'm not sure if it is accessible or not, but if you can put your hand over the airbox opening while trying to start it, it may help it start easier in the colder weather. Just cover it for a few seconds, otherwise you may foul the plug. Also make sure the plug is clean and a light to medium brown. If it is black its fouled out and will make starting a pain the the rear.
