TWL,

Get rid of that spark plug!!!!! It is too hot!!! Go with a B8HS or a B8HV or a B8HVX or a B8HG

I know, thats what I thought too. I've had it in there about 2 weeks. I keep checking it and it's always toast brown. Is it still okay to use? Seems to run fine.

Re: SCRAMBLER 50 CHEAP MODS

The stock plug is a BP7HS. I never use that plug for ANY purpose. You see, the "P" stands for a protruding electrode. That type of plug is intended for other applications -- where the insulator cannot, under normal conditions stay clean. In your case, I would at least go up to a B7HS (cooler than the 6). Your 6 plug may be brown now but it probably goes white under high load conditions. Save yourself the heart ache of a burned piston or worse and install a cooler plug.

Re: SCRAMBLER 50 CHEAP MODS

I've read the things that you've posted and you seem very informed on the atv. I was wondering if the things that you are discussing relate to the 2003 Scrambler 50 also? If so what is a quick and cheap modification to the atv? If the exaust restrictor is something that can be removed, where is it located and how is it removed?

Re: SCRAMBLER 50 CHEAP MODS

It is located between head pipe and the cylinder. Remove your pipe and then remove the restrictor in the head pipe. It looks like a washer.

Re: SCRAMBLER 50 CHEAP MODS

I attempted to do that a few days ago and there was no washer at all. The pipe was bolted directly to the head w/o out even a washer? Is this a change for '03?

Re: SCRAMBLER 50 CHEAP MODS

Sounds like the restrictor has already been removed.

Re: SCRAMBLER 50 CHEAP MODS

my son also has a sranbler 50. Both he and I are frustrated by the cdi speed limiter. Can someone please tell me in no uncertain terms how to disable it. As far as i can see it is a sealed unit.(do I just simply cut the green wire everbody eludes to)

Thankyou for any assistance you may offer

Re: SCRAMBLER 50 CHEAP MODS

The green wire is on the new Eton's. On the Polaris go to a 2000 or 2001 model cdi unit or replace it with a hi performance after market unit.
