Nead some help on yamaha DT175B??

I just aqired a 1975 dt175 enduro . When i got the bike the headlight was out so I rushed out and got another one (6 volt) I put it in started it up. No power to headlight unless it's running. It looked good for about 2 minutes brightness went higher as rpms increased then it burned out ??? anyone have a clue what to check. Also when the blinker blinks the tailight dims. It has a new full charged battery and I checked the ground? Could it be the rectifier? Thanks everyone.need some advice

The problem seems to be with the voltage regulator, unless there is no tail lamp bulb working or installed. The recifier just makes the AC generated by the mag-dyno to DC voltage to recgarge the battery.

All the early model Yamaha DT's used the battery only for
the tail light. Headlight runs off the magneto assy.
