DT250 problem

i'm a beginner when it comes to motorcycle mechanics...I have a 1975 DT250...It has some sort of problem. Sometimes it will sputter and die if i do more than crack the throttle...other times it will run like there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I've fiddled with the carb, but i don't wanna do much, cuz i don't know what i'm doing...if someone could help, that would be greatly appreciated. thanx

Re: DT250 problem

Did you read the tech article about the Vintage Mikuni carbs?

I just got a DT250 myself and am reading the article now.

It seems like it is pretty informative, although it does seem to be cut short.

I just bought a manual that covers the 77-83 series DT and MX bikes. If it has any insight I will pass it along.

Re: DT250 problem

Hey thank you for the info, it was much appreciated. I think i have fixed my problem(for now). I tore the carb apart and cleaned every little part. It runs fine, so i'm guessin all it needed was a good cleanin. Thanx again
