71 Honda SL125 won\'t start

I've got a 1971 Honda SL-125. I can't get it to start anymore. I have a blue spark at the plug, but it doesn't appear to be conistent. Point-gap set to 014, tried new spark plug. Nothing seems to help. Perhaps I need to set
the timing to get a consistent blue spark? Anyways..

One thing I noticed is when I pull the plug and throttle the bike, I am not seeing any gas nor smelling it from the
plug hole. Carb has gas from the fuel line, and the bowl fills up. Went thru the carb but didn't find anything blocking any valves.

Another thing I noticed is when I torque down the carb to the engine, it will freeze my throttle linkage after throttling it. The cylinder inside the carb that is raised and lowered seems to get "stuck" so I have to back out the nuts a bit and it'll move freely again.

Anyway, I think the problem may be that it is not getting gas, and I am at a loss as to why. I dropped some carb cleaner in the hole and it fired but wouldn't run.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 71 Honda SL125 won\'t start

if your bike doesnt flood after a million kicks, then gas aint gettin to the chamber. take the carb off and apart, then dip it in carb cleaner overnight. if that still doesnt work get a new carb. a good way to check to see if your carb is moving the gas, is to hold your hand over the mouth of the carb ( not the airbox ) and kick over the bike. if gas gets on your hand, then its workin. if your getting gas, then check your coil for problems. if its not a clean, consistant spark, get yourself a new coil.
