Fourtrax 300 Ignition/Carb Problem

My 98 Fourtrax 300 4x4 will run for 10-15 minutes and then just quit. I could be plowing the driveway in 1st or tearing up the road in 4th and it will just die. Then if you let it sit for a few minutes it will start up fine and repeat the process. I thought it might be a carb issue, but someone suggested ignition and said to check my ignition and starter coils. The local shop said it is very rare for the ignition coil to go bad. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance for the input.

Re: Fourtrax 300 Ignition/Carb Problem

I have ridden with a few guys that have older Kawi's and they have a locking gas cap. In the locked position they seem to not vent properly. This creates a feeling of being out of gas immediately.

Anyway, this creates a vacum inside the tank. Creating fuel starvation.

Check to see if your vent tubes are clogeed/pinched/etc.

Start with the cheap stuff first.

Thanks, that's a good idea.
