2003 Artic Cat 400 automatic or shift?
I have to buy an ATV for work and I am debating whether to go with an Artic Cat Automatic or foot shift. Most of the time when I do use an ATV I ride about 160 kms(100miles)and it is through just about every type of terrain you can throw at it. I have read and heard about belt slippage and I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced any of that? I will be using it from time to time to pull and drag out heavy loads in the 500 to 800lb range across cutover areas, swamps and through the bush. How about comfort or any other problems that any of you may have experienced? The clearance is good on the Cat's, but the suspension looks like it has many moving parts and weak points. I also read another email at this site in which someone mentioned that they were having difficulty starting it in the cold. Has anyone else experienced that problem. I have no preference for any particular brand of ATV since during the 14 years that I have used them for work I have only been left stranded once by a Yamaha Big Bear. I have had no experience with automatic ATV's and I will be kicking myself in the ass for buying an automatic instead of the foot shift if they are not reliable.
