Homemade TIG welder

If anybody knows anything about TIG welding, you oughtta like this one. TIG welding doesn't require much amperage, and this guy made a welder out of an alternator, a dimmer switch and a battery booster. The craziness of it is that it should and does work great. I'm just mad I never thought of it .

Re: Homemade TIG welder

That's not bad. I have a couple of 130 Amp alts, and a gas bottle, I may build one after a few other projects get finished.

Re: Homemade TIG welder

<SnifF> I suppooose you could do it that way. I seen MacGyver do it last week with a balloon, a wool sweater, a rubber comb, a sheet of wax paper and a bobby pin! Got better than 1/8" penetration to seal up a vat of leaking nuclear waste!!
