OK, I'm reading both my Haynes and Chiltons manuals trying to decide which one I hate least and I hit the section that says I have to get and install my own zerks. Being a cynical un-believing type I go outside and lo and behold the only zerk I can find is on the front driveshaft (I used Mobil 1 grease..it took a lot) Some of the joints have an obvious "bolt" where it looks like a zerk should go, others don't (permanently sealed I assume). SO when I go to Nissan to buy the zerks and install them, should I just leave them in? or are they supposed to come out so they don't get broken off? Again being cynical,
I assume that very few of the mechanic who've serviced this car have ever bothered about it and this would be a good time to make amends and grease those bad boys. (if I am supposed to remove the zerks after greasing and put the little bolt back in ,what keeps the grease from coming out?)I don't think that any of the parts are overwarn because I just got an alignment at a shop with a "particular" alignment specialist, He would have spoken up and made me spend money if I needed to replace anything. I could see the tool marks where he made adjustments in the scratched in the dried mud thats all over (in fact there was so much dirt that I felt compelled to crawl under with a scrub brush and hose and do something about it)

Thanks,

Yeah, I know what you mean. Those bolts are where the zerk fittings go. You can leave the zerk fitting in. It has a valve much like a bicycle tube that keeps the grease from coming out. I got my fittings at NAPA. All two of them. Starting in '96 Nissan started using "sealed" joints so the only geaseable points you will find is on the top A-arm. U-joints, ball joint, etc they say are "permanently" lubricated. Maybe that's ok for the Altima and Maxima, but I think it's a really bad idea on a 4x4.

Anyway, your '95 should have geaseable points on the u-joints, ball joints, etc.

I don't know about his 95', but mine only had the 2 greasable nipples in the front end!

My '93 P-U Had (i think ) 2 or 3 on each side of the front end. It's pretty stupid if you ask me. At least they give us the choice of putting in the zerks and did'nt seal up the whole front end.
Later, Rich
