Here's one for the brilliant ? Why does the little sticker under the hood have this Jeep listed as a 88 YM ???
No, that's not a line of BS, I'm still scratching my head. I was told it may have started life as a military export,
but I put that up there with the " it's only had one box of shells through it, honest " . Any one a Jeep trivia buff ?
Thanks.....

Is this sticker the emissions and vacuum diagram on the fire wall? That designation "YM" probably refers to the particular engine you have, possibly the 258? My 1986 Jeep Cherokee XJ with a 2.8L V-6 engine has a sticker that is designated "GJ". /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

Wow, you made me go look. Next time I won't park so damn close to the old lady's car. It's sitting on the Vehicle Emission Sticker
with the other info about timing, gap, cubic inch, and other useless info. So you think it designates engine class/size
to someone with a degree ? Thanks....

/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gifFunny thing about those stickers. I corresponded with a kid over on the Mid Sized Jeep Board (my natural home) who thought he owned a 1985 Jeep Grand Cherokee!!!!!..... turns out he had an XJ with a carbureted 2.5L 4 cylinder/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif..... he thought so becasue that sticker has a ZJ designation on it./wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif/wwwthreads_images/icons/blush.gif Those stickers can be confusing!!!!/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

Thanks very much for your help. Curiosity has the best of me though, I'll read through the FSM and chiltons again to see
if I missed anything. I will probably have to go call Chrysler and bother them. I like mysteries...Thanks again...
