I have a 95 YJ. Every now a then the brake light will come on. This just started recently. I checked the fluid, and was OK,
and I don't find any noticible leaks i.e. wheel cylinder or caliper, but this was just by visuall inspection not by taking it apart. Any suggestions on what it could be?
It's the Light on the intrument pannel. I'll be driving along and put on the brakes and almost at the point of complete stop the light might pop on. But not every time.
The light on the dash is activated by two circuits. One is the parke brake switch, the other is the switch on the porportioning valve. I would unplug the wire on the parke brake ratchet, and see if the light still comes on. If it does, you probably have a hydrolic leak. If the pressure isn't the same across the porportioning valve, it will slide the contact over and turn the light on.
I dsay right on, the proportioning valve is toggling that cicuit for some reason, possibly worn brakes in teh rear?? whats the mileage and last time you did a complete brake job???
Bring it over tomorow : ) when you come and look at this Cherokee, and we'll fix it up...
