WEll a lot of you have noticed im looking to buy a jeep but need crap loads of help, so here is another thing i just figuered out and i need some help telling me more about it and if it will work. Alright, one is, do they make a 4cyl 90 yj? and if they do, should i just get that, since it will be cheap, then when i get some more money, swap out the engine for a 4L, and then i can add a lift and bigger tires since i know i want to do that part of it, you all thing thatll be the cheapest way to go, insurence is also a big deal on this, and i know the 90 will be less than the 91. i have an 89 4cyl and the 90 4 cyl is 100% identical and has THROTTLE BODY INJECTION and not the multiport injection like the newer ones. i personally LOVE mine and the TBI is amazing offroad and i havent stalled it on any offcamber stuff yet

Did you check with your agent about the insurance? If not, why do you think insurance will be cheaper on a 90?

nope i didnt until now, 60 dollars difference between the 90 and 91, i guess ill get teh 90, but how much more do they cost?

91 was the first year they introduced the MPI

if it is only a little more, i would suggest the 91, the MPI is more reliable and easier to get parts for

for instance, my fuel pump for my 89 was $178 with TBI and the 91 fuel pump is $89, just an example

You'll also need to change transmissions if you went from 4 to 6 cyl.
