YJ 4\" Lift

I am currenlty shopping for a lift kit for my 92 YJ. Out of the major 4" manufacturers I am trying to figure out which has the best ride. The only one I have ridden in is the Pro Comp with the Pro Comp springs and it is like a rubber ball. I don't think the springs even moved! Which is the best? Trailmaster, Superlift, Etc?

Re: YJ 4\" Lift

That is a loaded question. We've debated that lots! /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif Love to rehash it, so.....

Seems the consensus is National Spring. These are big bucks, and you have to weigh each end of the jeep... Next OME (but 2.5" lift...???) Then Superlift or Black Diamond (rumor is this is it's last year for leaf-springs)...

4" springs tend to be MUCH harsher than even 3.5"s... What about 3.5" with a 1" body lift? or 3/8" shackle lift?

Grub for the brain...

Did any of you guys see the latest issue of 4 Wheeler? There is a Monoleaf (!) suspension system for YJs - about a 5.5" lift! I wast thumbing thru it at the magazine stand. Don't remember who made it though, sorry. /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Check it out.

You mean the Skyjacker mono 6" lift?
With their record of sagging spring packs, I'd have to see one of these on a Jeep for about a year before I'd even look at them.....
Unless I wanted an actual lift height of 3" /wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif

Yeah, I don't know about that either, but it looked pretty cool. I'd at least look into the warranty against spring sag, or breakage too. One broken leaf in the 'pack' could be a bummer... /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

Re: YJ 4\" Lift

I was thinking about going with the 3.5-4" Superlift system and a 1" body lift. I wanted to replace the body mounts anyway, so that would be a good time to do it. Is this the better of the lifts? Obviously this is really a question of opinion, but having only ridden in 1 lifted vehicle I have to look elsewhere for them. It would appear that the Trailmaster, Pro Comp, Skyjacker are not as good? What do you guys run in yours?

I was thinking about the monoleaf for my YJ. I called Skyjacker and they said the warranty was lifetime.

Re: YJ 4\" Lift

I run a 4" ProComp with 1" longer shackles all the way around, and still rub my 33 x 12.5 BFG MTs in the back when crossed up good. The lift is about 3 years old now, and it's sagging pretty bad in back, thanks in part to the hardtop and rear swing out tire carrier. The front seems to be holding up well even with the winch up front and doesn't rub on articulation. I am looking at new 4" rear springs and a 1" or 2" body lift in the spring. A 1" should be enough.

If you can get a lifetime warranty against sagging and breakage, hell, that sounds pretty good to me.. /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

Good luck

But is that against breaking or sagging? Most people will warranty against you actually breaking the springs. But shy away from the sagging issue.

Re: YJ 4\" Lift

National Spring has a 6" spring lift for YJ's and cj's. Something no one else offers unless you go spring over. But it is costly.

I have the 3.5" black diamond, 1" shackle reversal on front, and 1" longer SYI hypershackles in rear (awesome articulation from the hypershackles!). The rear springs I had a problem with sagging, Warn is sending me new ones. No cost. And I've had them for a year. They said I shouldn't see sag that soon. So I guess they really take care of their customers. So I would say go with WARN.
No matter what spring you use you will eventually see some sag over time. Otherwise your jeep will ride like an old logging truck.

Alcan makes 6" lift springs for YJ's too. But they're comparably priced from what I hear.
I'd just get the Nation Springs off the shelf 4" spings for $550 and go from there. I've seen these in action and if I ever go for a taller lift that is where I'm going.
