Hello,
Today I finally rode a mordern day 250cc bike (I rode a 2000 rm 250) and I was impressed I was thinkin there would be a little more power but it did accelerate real quick, I guess that from all the talk from my friends b.s. that it should have ripped my arms off. Well anyway now I want one and the reason I'm posting this is because the bike had terrible head shake when I was accelerating it shook real bad so what would be a new 250cc motorcrosser that doesn't have head shake and handles really well (anything from 2000-2002).

Thanks

well I'm not comparing it to anything because it is the first dirt bike that I have drove that was a larger 2 stroke (all I have ridden for a larger dirt bike is a xr 200) but I noticed that is had real bad head shake and told the guys I was ridin with and they all agreed one of my friends said that it might be because the front tire is over inflated? would that have anything to do with headshake during acceleration.
I loved the powerband of that machine and I'm thinkin of buying one does anyone know if there are many differances in power/other stuff between 1999-2000? the link of the one that I'm gonna go look at is http://www.canadatrader.com/trader/result/affich.asp?sid=24SLGIE8742261&rubno=4400&pa=3&pr=1

Thanks

All the newer 250's really want to "turn" and the RM's are about the "twitchest" of them all.... Try to ride as many difrent bikes as you can, and remember that it being your first bike will probley get thrashed....
What kind of riding do you want to do???

After ridin the two stroke there is simply no way I will ever want to buy a four stroke, just the way the sound and accelerate is reason enough for me to buy one, I have found a good deal on a 99 Rm 250 and if I did buy it could I put some type of steering stabilizer on it? would that help the twitchy feeling? also would some suspension adjustment and differant tires help because I absolutely have to have a new 250 2 stroke.
oh and thanks for the offer chubby but I must have a 2 stroke.

Thanks

Well that bike that I rode the other day will probably be for sale because the owner just broke his arm and will be out for the rest of the season so I might ask him if he wants to sell it. oh by the way he broke it by hittin a tree while ridin it and had to get hauled to the hospital in a ambulance supposedly he shattered some bones in his arm real bad.

Thanks

OK, Bubba, enough about the amount of piss someone will give for an RM (btw they are yellow, you know), my question is how are you gettin "headshake" during acceleration? That's how I get rid of it. Hammer it! Please define this headshake you are getting. I usually get it when at constant speed, or decelrating across uneven ruts or bumpy terrain. Do you mean this as in it is rattling your head? Headshake as I have been explained is that god awfull shaking left to right, right to left, left the left, right then left, left right, right, right, left, OH MY GOD I'M CARTWHEELING IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY, of the handle bars (head) of the bike in choppy terrain.

Please let us know what you mean, and remember, blue is your friend. Hee hee

hey bud , you obviously havent ridden a new 4 stroke lately, they hit like a 2 stroke and are more dependable
anyway I would listen to KYRON on this one RIDE AS MANY BIKES AS YOU CAN BEFORE YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND, and as yzroosinya said the RM is one of the worst out there

imagine how light the 2 strokes could be if they got all that technlogy put into them...

98warrior, two strokes can't be technological...they are just two parts, a piston and a crank, hehe, although...look at snowmobiles, when are we gonna get a 800cc triple cylinder two stroke in a quad? Or a twin in a bike, hehe, yeah right.

also isnt there a weight limit in the AMA? if so this would give the 4 strokes an advantage by taking away one of the 2 stroke main advantages of being light weight..
