Ok....got my new tranny all in yesterday. Fired it up, ran great. No problems. Then today on my way back from the muffler shop (gettin new exhaust sys) i would noticed a wineing noise everytime it would shift gears (auto) then a block from my house when i got to a stop sign I died. I started it back up but it dies when I go to put it in gear. Whats this all about? Same thing was going on with my last bad tranny. I could start it up, but puttin it in gear killed it? Now this tranny can't be bad after 1 day and maybe 10 miles of easy city drivin? I just forked out big bucks and a lot of my time to replace this tranny, whats the deal now? ANy Ideas. Thanks

hate to tell you but it sounds like a engine problem not a tranny problem something with the iac motor or the tps sensor. these are just guesses cause I am not a jeep eng guru (puting chevy v8 in mine) but I would say its not tranny related for sure

1. Did you notice if the new transmission,
2. Downshifted correctly?
3. There's a possibility that the T/C didn't unlock,
4. Depending on if you were going fast enough,
5. For it to lock up in the first place.
6. I'd be looking more into the MAF/MAP sensor.
7. The engine may not be accurately monitoring engine load,.
8. Shifting into gear sharply increases load.
9. Does this do the same thing in reverse and drive?
10. Does the engine die quickly, or
11. Does it cough and sputter as if it's choking down?

GOt up this morn and went out to see what I could figure out and started it up, put it in gear and we took off. I only drove around my court 1 time then parked in the same spot. Then I got ballsy and drove down the street and back. Everything seemed ok, took a while to shift outta 1st though. about 2.5 3 k to shift outta 1st. Then around the block, this is when the whinning came back when it would go to shift. I didn't push it hard at all so I could at least get back to my house. The wineing sounds like it is coming from below my feet, and it progres's in sound as the shift point gets closer, kinda builds up, starts out as a quiet wine then gets louder until it shifted and then no more.

10. Does the engine die quickly, or
11. Does it cough and sputter as if it's choking down?

Yesterday when it was dieing i woiuld start it in Park, then shift to Reverse and it would just die, quickly. I didn't try it from Nuetral to drive, but its not doing this today, it might have if I drove a lil more.

OK OK cool, might be gettin somewhere, cause that would have to deal with my shift points and why they are draggin, right? So how do i check to make sure my linkage is setup right, I tried to set everything back up the way it was when I took it off. But maybe it got shifted around. Thanks
