ok, the high speed on my wipers works sometimes and does not work sometimes. What the hell is the problem? Its a 1996 silverado.

Ok one more time ;) Check the little black box under the hood on the firewall, right next to the wiper motor. Take out the circuit board, flip it over, you will see some solder points cracked, re-solder them and you'll be good to go. My '94 did this when I first got it. I fixed it that way, its been perfect ever since!

All chevys do that, if u haven't had time to fix it yet, and really need um, for a quick fix, turn the wipers on, pop ur hood and just go tap on the wiper motor, and they will start working again.

Two paths diverge in the woods, and i choose the one less taken, the path of mud only a 4x4 could tackle.

Being in So Cal, where you hardly ever need wipers, I've found that you can just reach out your window and "persuade" the wiper to work and then they work fine. There's a known problem with these. Either take BigBlue's idea, or go to a dealer and get it fixed or do what I do - "persuade"

I 'persuaded' my wipers for about a year until they finally gave it up forever in the middle of a pouring rain storm. Lucky for me I was about a mile from home and could make it at 15mph

I replaced the wiper motor (big PIA) and it cleared everything up. I only found yesterday that there was a recall on it. Check it out and have a dealer replace it if the recall applies to your truck

if there isn't a recall (i'm not sure about that), and you don't want to try the solder idea, it's a really simple task to replace that circuit board. They sell a little kit with the circuit board and a new cover for about $25-35. All u gotta do is unplug the harness, take out 3 bolts (or is ti 2, anyway), pull out the old board and stick the new one in, then replace the cover. That's what I did to fix my 97, which had developed a mind of their own! Then I found out there might be a recall.

yea i would check the circuit board but if everything looks fine it very well might be the wiper motor. last year my roommates 96 did the exact same thing and it was the wiper motor. $50 i think and now they work perfect
