First: There's like 5 screws: three in the doorpull and two in the door handle (at least for the handle I have -- the base model).
Second: Remove the window crank, just pulls off snap-fit style. The way you made it sound, you don't have power windows.
Third: Work from the bottom of the panel. There's just a few "Christmas trees". These are those little plastic snap dealies I think you were referring to. They go back in without replacing them. You just have to keep tugging on them to pop.
Last for panel: disconnect the pin for the door pull. It's a PITA!
You'll have to gut the door, probably, unless you can find out where the cranking linkage has gone awry. Sometimes a little push with the screwdriver from the bottom of the glass will help to align it back into place. Otherwise, you may have to pull out the vertical metal stabilizer and reset the whole thing. Grr.. ..
