I saw an article awhile back about a new type of winch rope to replace your wire,it claims its 48% stronger than the wire and if it were to break it'll drop straight to the ground no matter how much tension is on the line.My big question is whats the difference between this stuff and samson line which also has a very high tensile strength rope.It seems like this stuff would be hell trying to free spool once its been drawn up under weight.

Drive it like you stole it!!!

I don't have any technical info for you, but there is someone in the Tacoma club I'm in that has the AmSteel winch cable. He's got a writeup about it on his website at Just goto the section Misc Mods & Accessories. Then to the AmSteel winch cable link.
