I've seen a few posts saying they had problems using the Wagoneer manifold on the CJ but they do not say why. I wonder if the problem is due to the manual clutch linkage. Anyone have experience with a 360 in a CJ using the Chrylser Torquelflites (904/999/727/518). Thanks in advance.

I just ran into this problem when doing my 360 swap. My 360 came out of an 84 J20 and both of the stock manifolds dump at the rear right by the firewall. On the driver's side this caused interference with the bell crank on my mechanical clutch linkage. I had to get a driver's side manifold from an early model FSJ V8, which dumps about the middle of the block. The CJ 304 manifolds also dump in the middle. Apparently it was only the late model FSJ V8 manifolds that exit at the rear. I'm not sure how any of this relates to your auto tranny, but I thought I would share my experience.

Thanks for the info. More to this swap than I first thought:) Typical. Glad I could get the input from you guys before tearing out the current engine, so less down time.
