Anyone know if having a 93-94 with that whack OBDI/OBDII crossover system will affect the use of a Superlift Truspeed? I'm sick of my readings being wrong, and you can't beat infinite adjustability!

Actually, I think your's is adjustable/programable the way it is. In my case, with my 97, I would have to use a truspeed.. trust me, me and the tranny guy tried everything to program mine with no luck. He even tried to trick the puter into thinking it was a different year by using a suburban they had there. LOL

You may call a tranny shop and pick one of the techs brains and see what he has to say. If they charge for it, I doubt it would be much.

I asked the local GM dealer and their shop forman said that they can't program anything 93-94 because it was a weird mix between obd 1 and 2. Which sucks because I'd rather have it done than buy a $150 unit that I'll probably only use twice.

Shorts,

Where did you get yours and how much did it run you?

If im thinking about the same thing, the truespeed permanently goes in-line on some wires to alter the signals from the VSS or tranny so the computer works correctly. It is setup so you can flip a switch and switch between 2 different tire sets.

So about u only using it twice, it will become a permanent part of your wiring.

darren's right, it's just an inline box with the VSS and the odometer and compter (i have the instructions in the truck). the truspeed will work on your truck. it doesn't program the computer. heck you can install it, and set it to stock like it isnt even there.

ok, this obd1/obd2 thing in a 93/94 is still confusing me. can you read your codes with a paperclip??? if so, you have an obd1 truck. i guarantee, obd2 didn't come until 96.

i bought mine from a guy on fsc for %40. normally, you're looking at $150-70ish.

Looks like I need to call another dealer. Luckily there are a few within 10 miles of me. Yes, I can use a paper clip to check codes (so I must have OBDI) but at the same time I asked auto zone to check my truck before I knew that a paper clip could be used and they said the same thing about obd1 and 2, that 93-94 were years they couldn't check.

Even though you permanently mount this thing in-line, can you still change the 2 sizes/gear ratios more than once. I don't mean flip the switch between the 2, I mean if I got a third new size tire or new gear I could change 1 of the 2 modes to accomodate it?

yeah, you can change the setting a bazillion times...along with gears and tires sizes, it doesn't matter - you will always be able to true your speedo and odo.

here's a link to an install. the only thing that'll be different is the wire colors that you tap into. i'd type the chevy install in here, but that's just crazy long.
