I have a 258 with 34,000 orignal miles, I have replaced the valve stem seals 2 times. The first time was the ones in the upper(head set)kit. After about 150 miles it started smoking again. So I purchased the teflon seals and installed them and after about the smae mileage it started again, getting progressively worse. I have between 140 and 160 compression on all cylinders. After the first time I pulled the plugs and the 3&4 plugs were oil fouled, so I replaced all of them when I installed the teflon seals. I haven't checked the plugs again just yet. Any Ideas?? The only thing I can come up with is bad valve guides
Please Help
Thanks

It could be the guides, my 304 just started smoking on startup after around10,000 on a rebuild.Velve seals will only make it blow smoke when you start it, if your smoking while running it's probably the rings.
