Who\'s out there??

Just a thought. I have found myself logging on each day to see whats going on. I always enjoy reading someone's post and the replys. I have a feeling there are a lot of people out there with other opinions. don't be shy. post something, anything...It will keep me amused just a little bit longer until it stops raining and I can put some hours on my new DR-Z400. (just had to rub it in). I'll be watching for some action. JD Dick

Re: Who\'s out there??

Well, J.D., there's alot of us "out there", you included! And like a certain body part, we all have opinions. Besides, you're an oldguy; still being able to mount up and ride should be amusement enough. And as far as your new toy goes, I'm still waiting for the diesel version of the green 'n yellow. 'Till it comes out, I'll just keep my droolin' to a minimum an' enjoy the hurricane deck of my 'ole pre-mix thriller........ Bob :) lol, lol, lol

Re: Who\'s out there??

Thanks for chimin' in. Got to take a few runs up the creek today. The DR feels pretty good but I'll have to wait till I get to Fouts Springs with some riding buddies to see if I'm any faster on it. maybe I'll see you there.

Re: Who\'s out there??

I just sold my 1994 DR435 today and am planning to purchase my dentists race ready 1999 Husky 610 TC. I was leaning towards the DR400z but when i took a ride on the Husky i bout messed myself. This thing is incredible. The most amazing bike i have ever ridden. Cant wait to show those new XR650s and YZ 400s whats up in the Desert.

Drew, You're in for the ride of your life. I rode a 510 Husky for several years and put a lot of hopped up XR600 riders to shame. The bikes are awesome. The handling take a little while to get used to. All you have to worry about is getting the front wheel around the corner and the rear end takes care of it's self. Keep your rear brake pads in good shape as you will find yourself brakesliding more. I nicknamed my Husky the rockhound since it went through rock fields so stable. Have fun

Re: Who\'s out there??

I guess I should chime in too. I haven't been posting to much in here. I'm in about 8 or 10 different off road boards, so I only have time to read everything but not post much. I just had a friend in town from Nebraska. I met him on the internet in another board. We rode 133 miles in the last few days. Man are these old bones tired!! ;-) Took lots of pictures and a few hill climb videos. Went through lots of Advil and beer! LOL

Re: Who\'s out there??

JD, how do you like the DR-Z400? I think Suzuki did right on this one. I'm looking to convert to a 4 stroke one day and I'm looking at the Yamaha WR400 or Suzuki DR-Z400. I have the spec.s on both bikes and the only difference is the bore (Yama is a tad larger, not a big deal for me) and valve configuration (Yama has 5 and Suz. has 4). Please keep us posted. Thanks,
AAM

Re: Who\'s out there??

I had the opportunity to ride the YZ 400 when they first came out. It only took me a couple of minutes to realize it wasn't for me. It hit way to hard for an old man like me. If you wern't pointed in the right direction when you twisted the throttle, you were in trouble. I was ready to hate the WR just as much when I got the chance to ride one. Wrong, I really enjoyed it. It revved much more willingly than my XR 400. The Suzuki is a perfect tweener. The stroke isn't quite as short as the WR's but it rev's almost as good. The creek was running yesterday and I was very impressed with the way I could bring the front end up to cross from one side of the water to the other. Even at speed in 4th gear. It takes a pretty good tug on the bars with the xr to do the same thing. Even without having the electric start, I would buy the Dr over the WR. However, until I get some real time on the bike, I will try to temper my excitement.
My opinion---buy the DR
