My first post!
I recently inherited a sand-car in fairly decent shape except the wiring is scary looking. I want to take it out except I'm scared it'll fail in the middle of the dunes. I don't have the time or know-how to rewire it properly. Is there anywhere I can take it or anyone who can come out and rewire it properly on the spot? Thank you to anyone with some advice.

Moleculo,

First, welcome to the board!

Second, you might want to fill our your profile a little. General location usually helps a lot.

Third, and to the meat of the matter, if you don't want to do it yourself, check with a fab shop in your area. A lot of these shops will crank out turn-key buggies, complete with wiring from starter to lights and accessories. I don't know how much they charge by the hour...

But I would consider studying the current wiring and then perhaps going at it alone. Maybe go to an electrical sales shop and ask questions about types of wire (gas resistant stuff is good), relays and connectors, stuff like that and work out a plan.

Oops! I suppose mentionioning that I'm in San Diego is kind of important. Anyway, I truly do not have the time or tools to endeavor in such a project. Is there anyone who offers a mobile wiring service? i.e. someone who I can pay to show up at my house and rewire my car on the spot?

OK! Another SD person!!!

Anyhoo, check out either the following links. Call them and ask if they know anyone who can do the work for you. Either place does a lot of work with buggies and race trucks, so they have to know SOMEONE who does off site wiring!

Baja Concepts -- Fallbrook

Off-Road Warehouse

The Baja Concepts one might be better. I talked to a guy there who hooked me up with someone to fab some fenderwells for my old S-10.
