I want a five speed tranny. I do a lot of highway driving, some off-road, but no rock crawling. I found a complete T-5 with pedals, bellhousing, shfter, etc. I have a '83 CJ7 with a 258 & T-999. What years AX-15 will work? Will the AX-15 bellhousing bolt-up to my engine? What about the pedals and other stuff? I'm just trying to find out all my options. (I can't afford the NV4500)

The AX-15 will bolt up to your 258, but will need a custom made spacer/adapter to bolt up to your Dana 300. The T-5, while not regarded as a very durable tranny, would be the more viable swap of the two.

Go with the World Class T-5, it's a lot stronger. I think they were found in Mustangs. AA should have some info on them.
