which shackle reversal

Ok, I am looking for a shackle reversal kit for my YJ. I've seen the M.O.R.E. kit that talks about moving the axle 1" forward to avoid it making contact. I'm adding a 1" body lift before the shackle reversal, so is this an issue? If not, who's kit would you recommend? I don't plan on using the buggy spring option if I go with M.O.R.E. since I'm going to revolver shackles in the future.

Yes, it is an issue since your front tires will now be moving up and to the rear on compression.

Right, and everyone with a shackle reversal that I've seen that doesn't relocate the axle has had to trim part of the wheel well do avoid convtact. Wouldn't the body lift move this up out of the way? Or am I suffering from a brain fart this morning and missing something?

With your yj you also have the issue of slaming your slip yoke into the t-case and grenading it. There are reasons the kit is setup that way and reasons it the best kit. Do it right or don't do it. There are added costs such as a slip yoke eliminator kit you need. and then you'l need a new driveshaft built.

Ummmmmmmmm.........
a SYE kit goes on the back of the t-case and this will effect the front drive shaft............
I do remember now someone mentioning the drive shaft grenading the t-case though.
As far as do it right or not do it at all, that's why I'm asking instead of going to with the cheapest thing I see.
Thanks =)

Why couldn't you have one of those long spline-travel driveshafts built for the front and then you wouldn't have to worry about transfer slam. True, your wheels will move to the rear with a shackle reversal, but only until your springs flatten out, after that its all up and down. Steve

My experience is that shackle reverse kits only are effective in correcting "push" on paved roads due to long shackle lifts in the front. Off road the reversed kit causes 2 problems. 1, tire will hit rear of fender well when you push into an immovable object. 2, when going up a slippery, steep uphill the front tires push the reversed shackles back causing wheel hop. if you dont back down and try again, the hop ends in a broken knuckle or axle. Keep your front shackles and drive a little slower on the pavement.
