Which lift?

I know this is asked everyday, but what lift should I go with to put 33's on my 83 CJ7? I was thinking of 2.5" Superlift w/a 1" body. I wheel often and articulation is a must. It is also my daily driver. Thanks for any help.

I have a 2.5" lift with a 1" MORE body lift and ConFerr 3/8" longer shackles on my 85 with 33x12.50 BFG ATs. With that setup there is jsut enough clearance for the tires at full articulation with the sway bar disconnected (I have JKS disconnects). As I've said before, though, wheel offset, backspacing, or whatever you want to call it is critical, if your tires stick out too far you will catch the lip of your fender. The nice thing about this setup as opposed to a 4" lift is the smaller lifts usually ride better, less spring arch.

How deep is your wallet??? The BEST 2.5" lift is the Old Man Emu. It is also
the most expensive. But be warned, an OME lift with a 1" body lift will NOT clear 33s. The OME lift has too much articulation for that. My OME lift
needed a 1" body lift to clear my 31s. And even then it occasionally will
catch the top of the fender well. You will also need longer brakelines, a
drop pitman arm, and a SYE for the rear. It also rides better than stock.

2.5" Rancho is a real nice, quality setup. Just one more option

Reference the reply about the OME lift. I believe he had the lift on a YJ, and in fact a 2.5" lift with a 1" body lift WILL NOT clear on a YJ, but it will on a CJ. How soft the springs are has nothing to do with it, what you will get with an OME lift is a better ride and an emptier wallet, especially to do the conversion to a CJ.
