I have a 1991 Geo Tracker 1.6L 4WD hardtop EFI manual 5-speed. I also have the 1991 service manual supplement with the service codes. However, there are so many code readers out there, and none of my manuals state what type of code reader I need. All they say is "PLUG IT IN TO THE CONNECTOR IN FRONT OF THE BATTERY". Big help.

Can someone clue me in to the type of code reader I can/should use?

There is a diagnostic slot in the fuse box under the dash... you insert a fuse into that slot and start the engine. If the light flashes once, pauses and then flashes twice = 12 = normal. If there are error codes refer to the listing of codes for the general problem. It is not an OBDII computer system like more modern vehicles, but should point you in the right direction for the problem.
