Wheelin\' in northeast Mississippi

Just moved to the Columbus, Mississippi area and am severely dissapointed. I come from the Seattle area, where there is unlimited offroading and many many clubs. This is a beautiful area here with plenty of opportunity for wheeling. I figured with all of the ******** and trucks around here, that there would be lots of people into doing a little offroading......NOT! Just try and find anything about offroading in Mississippi, let alone a club. It's driving me nuts! Is there anyone out there who knows anyplace or anyone who likes to actually use their offroad rigs for what they were made for in Mississippi? Or is everyone just into making pretty, jacked up trucks that they are afraid to scratch?????? HELP

Re: Wheelin\' in northeast Mississippi

Just to set the record straight, I seem to have offended some people with the "*******" comment. I did not mean to do that at all. I have friends from Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia that all refer to themselves as ******** and are proud to do it. Please don't take me wrong, I love it in the south, but am just a little bit frustrated.

Re: Wheelin\' in northeast Mississippi

hey zukimud,
i am down here in south ms. (biloxi). there are still a few places down here to go wheeling, but it seems like i have to drive farther every time i go because they keep closing trail. not alot of extreme terrain down here but when it rains!! look out.
btw, if you are in noertheast ms. you probabally are not to far from monroe,la. that is the home of superlift suspensions. i think thay still sponser a big off-road event every year. not sure of the details, but taht is semi-local.
the only 4x4 club i know of around here is the south mississippi HEEP club and the last time i spoke with one of thier members it was made clear that samurais were not worthy enough to ride the same trails with them. i guess that is thier loss, it certainly is not mine.
good luck finding trails, i am sure thier are some. all the fun is in finding them.pm me if you make it down here to dixie.
i don't mind being called a *******, i married one and all of my friends are too!

Re: Wheelin\' in northeast Mississippi

There are no legal places to off-road a truck in Mississippi that I know of - hardly any of the National Forests even allow ATV's anymore - the erosion is just too bad. The only places to go are on private property.

Besides, there is only mud to play in.

Your best bet is to take Tim Lucas up on his invite and head over to N. Alabama.
