I am wanting to run 33x12.50 on my 1988 1500 4x4 and am told they will stick out to far on 10in. wheels is this so, will it look bad? I have at least 2in. of fender flares and am considering a 4-6 lift skyjacker?

I was in the same position a year ago. I actually had Sears order both the 8" and 10" wheels and then put them on my truck to see how far they would stick out. I also have 2" of wheel flares and the 10" wheel I chose stuck out about 2" past the wheel flare in the front. I went with the 8" wheel and am really glad I did because I live in MN and I still get a lot of slush thrown on my truck with the 8" wheel. I would hate to think what my truck would look like with the 10" wheel installed.

personally, i like the 10" wheel. ive got em on mine w/o any sort of flares and i think it gives is a wider, more aggressive look! the only drawback is that the sides of my truck are always dirty cause anything and everything slings up on the sides. anyways...just my opinion, but id stick with the 15x10s...

The 10" rims will look fine. The popular "street" set-up is 12.5" tire on 12" rims. This doesn't look good and doesn't function well in most situations (sand not included). However, 12.5's on 10" rims will tuck into the wheel well for the most part, the tires will protect the rims sufficiently, and it will provide enough squat to keep a flat tread pattern on the ground, thus providing the best tread wear. Mount the 12.5's on your 10" rims and don't worry about it.

If you've already got the 10's & like the look of them with 31x11.50's, you'll most likely like them with the 33X12.50's also. And if not, you can always get different rims later. No sense ditching them yet 'til you decide you have to have something else. Sorry, didn't realize that you already had a set or my original advice would have been much different.

No problem TEX it is hard to explain a situation by typeing when you are a mechanic and not a (office person)! Have you heard of anyone running 33's with any kind of lift that won't leave the wheelwells with an empty feeling thanks

Thanks, and I don't mind, the reason I asked these mesurements is I am afraid that these 33's will have a empty feeling in the wheelwells but maybe I'm just new mine now with stock susp. has 8 in. front and back, what kind of lift do you have is it a adjustable one Brent

I've got the Pro Comp 6" Stage II lift. The kit includes blocks and an add-a-leaf in the back and the A-Arms are relocated in the front so the only thing that's really adjustable, as far as I know, is if I crank the torsion bars which I have not done and don't plan to do.

When I asked the shop that installed the kit about lowering the torsion bars, they said they were about as low as I could go. The Rancho upper control arm drop brackets drop the brackets 6" so I think this is why I have so much lift in the front. The kit came with 3" blocks for the rear and I had to have and add-a-leaf installed in the rear to level out the truck. I don't mind the look too much, but the next set of tires I put on will be 35's.

Harmsie If yours is a 4in kit why does it drop the "A" arms 6in. it is a 4in. kit right? In readers rides Scott Byars truck has a 4in. kit with 33's and his doesen't show much fender this dosen't make sense to me how one truck will get xamount of lift and another another amount. I lovethe ones that are lifted but $999.00-$1400.00is a lot to spend and not be happy I wish I could see one lifted in real life and not pictures this would explain a lot I'm sure Thanks for all your info. Brent, yes the kit is a 4" kit and the brackets drop the A arms 6". I was surprised also when the guy at the shop showed me this. Here is what the Rancho rep told the shop that installed my lift. He said that at a SEMA meeting several years ago the topic of 4" and 6" lifts was being discussed. Rancho went on record at that show stating 6" lifts were dangerous and should not be installed on trucks. As a result, they do not sell 6" lifts. I called the Rancho tech line several times, first to verify I had the correct drop brackets and I do. I then asked if they were the same ones as in their 6" kit and I was told flat out "We do not sell a 6" lift." and he contined to say that just because their brackets drop the A arms 6" doesn't mean I have a 6" kit and if I try to get 6" out of it, it will throw off all the geometry of the kit and void the warranty. He got a little rude at that point. Basically I think that in order to be competitive with other manufacturers out there that are selling 6" kits, they drop the A arms 6" and let the shops sell either a 4" or 6" kit. That is what the shop I got my kit from does. I am very happy with the kit and I like the added height I got out of it. Most of the guys around here run 4" Trailmaster kits in their trucks and I like sitting above them. The added room in the wheel wells doesn't bother me that much. I know I will never rub a tire on the fender. Let me know if I can give you any more info.

Hey Harmsie, Talk about them being rude their truck of the month had 33's on it and looked great well the last one now it is a f**d but any way I wrote and asked them what kind of lift was on it and they replied "we do not support his lift brand I think it is a 6'" what a bunch of crap makes me want to go with ANOTHER BRAND If they can't help me out with this problem what if I get faluty parts, what will that be like? Brent thanks

Brent, I'm not worried about a faulty part. The shop I went through would handle all that for me if something went wrong with one of the parts. I did specifically ask the shop about warranty and if one manufacturer was better than the other, and he said all the ones he carried were really good about standing behind their products and he hadn't had any problems with any of them. I know he doesn't talk to their tech support department when he talks to Rancho.
