What\'s YOUR next project?

Now that we've settled down a bit from the new board look,
and I think we're all here....

What's on tap next for your XJ? Armor? Engine? Lift? Bobblehead for the dash?

On my '95: First on my list is a overall extensive engine tune up, solving the infamous high idle problem, etc. And with the warm weather fast approaching, the cooling system is my priority. I will be installing a 3-core radiator and yanking out the stock fans and installing a Flex-a-lite.

On my '87: Both motor mounts are smushed so I'll replace those and the bearings are falling out of the back of the alternator so I'll take this opportunity to upgrade to a nice 100 AMP unit.

gotta keep busy, ya know? What's everyone else up to?

Re: What\'s YOUR next project?

Well my next project will be to fix the heater blower motor tomorrow, it doesn't work now for some reason. As far as mods go, I'm going to be welding a front & rear bumper, Safari Rack w/ some lights and a mount for my CB Antenna, YJ brake hose in the rear, Relocate the ft brake lines, 1.5-2" lift increase, and finnally a matching spare tire!

Finaly starting to thaw up here.
Soon I'll be able to get to work on the '86 to make it ready for the 38's.
This on top of installing a new kitchen & deck this summer.
Gonna be a busy summer.

Re: What\'s YOUR next project?

I'll probably leave the '96 alone for a while.
The '87 might be getting a 1.5" BB.
It also needs new coolant, fan clutch, tires, plugs, wires, and it need a few scratches buffed out of it.

My CJ-2A will probably be getting either a set of 2.5" lift springs, or a set of OEM replacement springs, I dunno which yet.
If it gets the OEM springs, it will get four new "C" shackles, and if it gets the lift springs it will have four new normal shackles.
A couple weeks ago I put a new set of points and a new condenser on the 2A and it runs like a top now.
All I have to do now is go make some money so I can pay for all this stuff!

Re: What\'s YOUR next project?

Looks like I have a few XJ projects whether I like it or not, My harmonic balancer has done the slide into the timing cover thing and is in need of replacement and I can no longer put off the rear main seal (unless I buy stock in an oil company), my fuel milage has puked and I'm thinking it's definatly time for new 02 sensor, and SOMETHING is making a clunking kinda noise somewhere under the front half of my jeep, can't seem to track it down, checked motor and tranny mounts, brakes, ball joints, steering knuckles, shocks, springs, control arms, sway bar and links, I just can't seem to find the damn noise. Oh well, when it rains it pours.

Re: What\'s YOUR next project?

Hrmm, mine is making a 'clunking' noise as well. Definantly coming from the front half. It only seems to make the noise when idling however. When I rev the engine the noise stops til its idling again. Ahhh well ill figure it out somehow, someday.

As for my next project.. well, im not ready for one

Im still trying to get my current one where im, atleast partialy, satisfied.

Re: What\'s YOUR next project?

well now that the drivers side of my box is totalled after this weekend I guess I have to fix up my box. I side swiped a car while towing my CJ, thank god I didn't smash up the CJ. The CJ is mint for now, I want to put my winch and custom front bumper on it and that's about it

Re: What\'s YOUR next project?

Well, I am about to go drill the holes in my light bar to install the 5 new 130W, 6" rd., black powder-coated off-road lights I bought. AJ made the gutter mounts, but I get credit for the bar and the lights. Too bad I didn't get the switch panel from him like I was going to.........
Hey AJ, you still got that panel laying around somewhere?

Re: What\'s YOUR next project?

AJ just think...
If you plan this right you could make it from the Hawiian Tropics to the North Pole on the same vacation in the same envelope!
Can ya get time off to allow for 'snail mail'?
