What\'s the term?

There's a name for it, can't remember what it is.
He He - Been shaking my head trying to remember, all I'm getting is rust falling out.

When you drill through a member, like a square tube - if you put a bolt through it and tighten, all it does is crush the tube - never can get tight.
So you put a sleeve inside and weld it in place, then the bolt tightens against the sleeve.

What's that process called?

tube/sleeve gusset
sleeved,"through gusset"

When installed on the frame, they are commonly called "Frame rail sleeves"

Anti-crush tube/sleeve, bolt sleeve, through tube/sleeve, or simply tubed or sleeved.

These were the subject of an engineering meeting about a year ago, we had people not using them or anti-crush washers on square/rectangular tubing. The wall thickness was enough that they didn't crush much, just enough to let the nuts come loose. Not a good thing to happen when you are carrying a complete car/truck on a conveyor.

Spuds! That's it!
I knew there was a short word for it - it may not be official, just a slang term, but couldn't remember it.

I kept thinking stubs, but that's different, that's an internal tube that re-inforces a welded tube joint.

Thanks, I can sleep now.
