MY 1980 AMC 360 RUNS VERY SMOOTH AND WORKS GREAT,(REBUILT 10 000
AGO)BUT IT HAS A TICKING THAT CAN ONLY BE HEARD WILST LYING
UNDERNEATH,IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS COMING FROM THE REAR LOWER PART OF
ENGINE,AND I CAN HEAR IT IN THE LH EXHAUST (DUAL EXHAUST)I CANNOT
HEAR IT FROM UNDER THE HOOD,THE SOUND IS SIMILER TO THE NOISY LIFTERS
OF A V8 WHEN ITS VERY LOW ON OIL,BUT AGAIN ITS FROM THE LOWER
PARTS,ANY IDEA'S?THANX

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me. They sound just like a lifter tick.
Lots of the v8 AMC guys have to had to fight this problem.
