Mornin All,

Just curious, how did everyone choose their Handle? I've been thinking about changing up to something different, I dunno. I think some are hesitant to speak with someone that is called "Booger". I guess it kind of describes my state of mind sometimes. I had a housemate of 20 years, she passed away a few months back after being ill for 3 years. Just want to apologize to everyone if I've come across as "acidic" at times these past few months. Been a little depressed lately, it happens I guess. But I just had to get this out there, anyway thanks.

FarmJeep...
Well, I live on a farm, and it's a jeep...and it has seen most of it's duty on the farm as of yet...and I bought it from a farmer who couldn't complete the fiberglass body swap...
When I was learning Ford, I was StraightSix on a ford bbs, one that H8Monday was on with his F250...StraightSix after the big 300 in my p/u...
Guys at the pit call me "deano" most of the time...kind of a handle, I guess...
One fellow calls me "slim"...he said if I stand sideways, he couldn't see me (all these years running, I guess)...

When fellows get ornery, they call me "big dog". That's what the bug deflector on my Mack says...and with a 500hp v-8 turbodiesel, it certainly is.

Here on the farm, they call me "big shot wooney"...wooney is the license on my jeep...childhood nickname (no real meaning, I guess), and the "big shot" prefix is in reference to my childhood addiction to jobs that were too big for me (you try being the youngest child on a farm...my brother could throw a bale of hay 8 layers high, why couldn't I??? GRRRR...YAAAHHH...whoops...thump...OOOWWWW!!!)

The plates on my P/U are for our farm, frieders farm corp...shortened to FFCOR and a number...but some friends of mine thought that FFCOR stood for the phonetic version, not the abbreviation...

Ahh, what's in a name you ask? My dad wanted to name me Wyatt...he was a big cowboy fan. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed, and Dean it was.

Gotta head back out and grease the truck. Good to be back and read a few hundred posts... See ya all soon.
FarmJeep,
aka
Deano

Thought in middle of modifications: "Maybe AMC did it right the first time...Naah."

As the profile says, I've been in the Marine Corps for awhile and have been in the infantry the entire time. My at work name is GruntYJ. I may have to change both of these since I will be purchasing a 2000 TJ soon. Then again I may just leave it the same.

I may not like what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Mine too came about as a result of the internet. I tried many variations of "user names" before I finally -after many, many hours- hit upon Depewtee. Some people get it right away, some say "oh, I get it" after I explain it and many just keep that perplexed look on their face. Hint: sound it out real slow... Dep... ew... tee... and did I mention I am a "deputy". I thought it was clever and it has stuck for several years now.

BTW TeamRush we can see the "little wheels turning" when the driver is trying to think of that perfect excuse and sometimes it becomes downright entertaining. I have not had one yet that has been creative enough to get the driver "out of the ticket", but I have laughed at many. Did you guys hear the one about the guy who kept trying to speed away from the cop? When he finally did pull over the cop asked "Why did you speed up when you saw my blue lights?" The man replied "Last week a cop stole my wife and I thought you were trying to give her back."

In the early years of the Internet, during one of my long bouts of insomnia, I used to visit a chat group during those wee hours that had a gaggle of real nice ladys as regulars - there's plenty of us night owls out there...
The topics were light hearted and never as raunchy back then as they are now - mostly just good company and a little flirting.
I signed my initals "JAF" in those daze (nights) and one of these sweet things started affectionately calling me 'Jaffer'. It stuck.
My insomnia remains but now I have only this group to listen to and sometimes participate in - I still don't like to see it go too far off topic.
I'm not one who enjoys lively soap boxing or head strong tyrades.
Sometimes, like during this latest "Jane" debate, I just roll my eyes and try to think of something else to keep occupy my mind. Been there, done that. Why go back. I just want to talk 'Jeep'.
I guess I'll go down the the DMV and get that custom license plate ....
If you see a (New Mexico) sky blue CJ-7 with "JAFFER" on the tag, it'l be me.
Take time to stop and say 'hello' and that you are one of my friends from the ORC!

Uh...mine is so damn obvious it's painful.

I used to pack a model 1911 Colt Combat Commander (Stainless) cocked and locked every day. Those who know guns will know that you have GOT to practice frequently to keep your skills up if you're packing that gun in that condition. And since I lived in the country I got in about a hundred rounds a week of practice. My own reloads.

Moved to the city and now I pack a .357 2" snubby stoked with 125 gr SJHP. You don't have to practice so much with it and it's just as effective.

But the name stayed the same.

Well I think mine speaks for itself, and although I really do enjoy my profession as a Project Suprintendent for a Major Construction Co. It seems the weekends are never long enough, especialy when we are working 6 day schedules. I take much pride in my flawless performance history of bring jobs in on schedule and on budget, so I am unwilling to turn over the reins of a project to anyone but an outstanding Foreman with my excact views of how a Job site should be popperly supervised. So consequently I H8monday.
My nickname among my freinds back in So Cal is "Junk" due to my Junkyard Dog Nature. But my wheelin freinds have recently taken to calling me "THUD" due to my driving techniques(or lack there of) when Im not in a calm of mind. I kinda like THUD and am thinking about looking into putting it on a custom license plate. The jeep currently has plates that read RG DOLL(Rag Doll) from some freinds in Fresno area who commented that I tossed the ol YJ around like a Rag Doll.

MellowYellow, and anyone else wondering, to learn how to make the moonguys ("smileys"), just click on this crazy moonguy: /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif, and he'll take you to the page describing all of the markup in the posts including but not limited to moon guys and clickable links...

And since I'm posting here anyway for this, I might as well explain my username here...

I like heading out to the sand dunes a lot, and the 454 part would be the size of the engine in my mud beast... /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

I chose "luvmud" because I thought all 4x4'ing involved driving through the mud and I just "luv'd" doing that....I guess I should update my handle to "luvjeepin" or something to that effect.....naa "luvmud" is good enough.

Well, I guess because...Its not a Jeep. Its an FJ40. I like hanging out on this BBS better than any other list. Your a cool bunch of guys with a lot to say. Not just motor vehicle related. Politics, Guns, 4x4s and Life Experiences all rolled into one list. Gotta love it.

Traveller is my dog's name. I named him after Robert E. Lee's horse. General Lee road a gray Appaloosa gelding. My dog is a greyhound(not gelded). Get it? Grey horse, greyhound? Huh? Get it?

Well, it was funny the night I drunk it up, er thunk it up.

So why did you choose "Booger"? Two things came to mind when I first saw it, "Revenge of the Nerds" and what Doctor Johnny Fever (aka Johnny Caravella) got fired for saying on the radio before he went to WKRP. Was either of these your inspiration?

Well, my screen name kind of describes the way I look.
I have a red goatee, but redbeard sounds better.

When I was in 10th grade I started wearing the goatee and here it is five years later and I still have it.
I guess the name has stuck with me as well as the hair!/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif

I have sometimes wondered how long it would be if I never trimmed it, but I would rather keep myself neat and presentable.

Oh, well.

My name came from the bug screen that was on my Jeep when I bought it. The two piece shield was held together by a metel tab. On this tab was a picture of a bug with a big 10 gallon hat and a sheriffs badge on. That dang tab fell off more than a couple of times but I always found it. One time, I even found it a week after I originally lost it at the hockey arena where I played every Wednesday night (this was back in Minnesota and it was lost amidst the snow and everything!). I dont have the bug screen on anymore but I took the Bug Sheriff and put him on my dash. When I first logged on to this board (which was a while ago - I read much more than I post because I have a lot to learn) it seemed only natural to use BugSheriff as my user name. No one calls me by that name but it seems to fit here in this context.

Talk to you later...

PS: Booger, thanks for your help last week on my vacuum/solenoid question!

Wow! This is a cool thread! very interesting. Well, I have been thinking about changing my name also, because it implies I have a Jeepster, and I don't. Also I think if you change it, you lose your title and all your hits, dunno. Anyway, the name I wanted, "Dude", was taken (although I haven't seen it) I called all my friends "dude" in school and therefore that is what they called me and everyone picked up on it. As far as the name Jeepsternaut...I figured space shuttle drivers are astronauts, therefore, jeep drivers must be jeepnauts but that didn't sound right so I made it jeepsternaut...
