Whats a good Body lift????

I planning on a 6in susp. lift and a 3in body lift to clear 38.5 gumbo monster mudders on my 84 K20 Longed, well anyways i was wondering what a good 3in body lift brand was for my truck. Im thinking about getting everything from National tire and wheel, is this a good company??? Also i was wondering how much shipping would probably be on 38.5 gumbos and 15x12 589's,a 6in lift and 3in body lift. Thanks

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

Sorry I don't have any answers to your questions but if it is at all possible, let me suggest that you find a local shop to buy your tires from. I mail ordered tires before and got a defective tire. It would have been a heck of a lot easier to go down to my local shop rather than hassle with shipping in order to get this resolved. I thought I was getting a much better price by mail order but the shipping charges ate into anything I would have saved. Plus having to wait for shipping turned a possible one day ordeal into about a week long ordeal. If you're getting a smokin' deal then forget what I said.

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

This may help you out with the body lift http://www.performanceaccessories.com/catalog/index.html By the way "Summit" may be cheaper, they do not list all of the pieces in their catalog, (like front and rear bumper brackets, and Gap gaurds), but they do have them. Just get the part numbers you need from the "Performance" web site and call Summit at 1-800-230-3030 and they will give you prices, Plus free shipping /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif on the body lift, NOT those tires /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

Check Performance Acc. they are the best. Be warned that you will need to raise your bumpers and a kit for the rear is hard to find. If you are going to leave your bumpers alone, summit has a kit that is cheaper. You may not need a full 3" if you trim your fenders. Also, be warned that big tires (such as the gumbo mudder) wear VERY fast. They may not last much more than a year. I have not heard anything bad about Nat'l tire and wheel, but watch out for 4WPW.

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

I've talked to people with swampers, gumbo mudders, etc, and they said "about a year" as far as mileage is concerned i'm not sure. Boggers wear even faster. The biggest tire you can go and still get a long-lasting tire (that i've seen) is a 35x12.5 (BFG, Goodyear, etc.) Most of the guys i know run 35 A/T's for street and put on the swampers on the weekends. Another thing to consider is that with 38's and bigger you have a much greater chance of shredding your 10 bolt axle.

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

FYI this web site for "Performance" is clickable http://www.performanceaccessories.com/catalog/index.html
And they do make everything you may want for a 2" or 3" body lift, and all the other accessories to go with it. I looked up what I wanted on the "Performance" web site, and gave them a call just to double check the part numbers, then I shopped around online, and local 4Xshops, for the best price (Tyres, National tire, etc...)
"SUMMIT" had the best price, about $20 cheaper then anyone else, mainly because they didn't charge for shipping/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif. I just ordered mine from them and it cost $212.Total /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif. This was front and rear bumper brackets, 2" body lift, and the Gap Guards. (2"and 3" cost the same) yours would be about the same price for all the same components.

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

I ordered a few things from National Tire and Wheel in Wheeling WVA. I have always received excellent service from them. I even stopped by their store to say hi and take a tour of the facility while on a trip to Pennsylvania. Ask them if they will match prices to get your business.

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

I've talked to a guy that swears he gets 40,000 miles out of his 38" radial Ground Hawgs (He's on his second set now). And this is on a 1-ton that weighs over 8000 lbs. I may try them next time I buy tires, since my 38" radial Swampers only have about 5000 miles on them and only have about 75% left.

Re: Whats a good Body lift????

I just purchased a set of 38x15.5x15 groundhawg radial blems. The set of 4 was 720.00 out the door. If you can find a local dealer you can save some major cash. The non-blems are around 250 a tire.
