Look for a '80 and up waggie. I lucked out and got an 80 for free.

Mine is from an '87, but I know that others fit.

 

80 and up will be a driver's side drop 44...BUT be careful, because SOME 83 and 84s had a center vacuum disconnect (not on the long tube like a YJ, it's diaphragm is visible coming from the diff cover).

I ditto that. Make sure it doesn't have the vacuum crap. If you don't want to deal with it, go with an '86 or later. But '80 or later would sufice.

if you are lucky enuff you can find an 80 and up cheerokee narrow track like my 83 dana 44 front with lockout hubs and a t176 tranny not really sure on the tcase though it might be a np205

While on the subject of narrow track FSJ axles, I measured my wagoneer front with the ford hubs/rotors and the wheel mount to wheel mount length is exactly 61.25 inches. It seemed when I was researching it I read conflicting numbers anywhere from 60.5 to 63. I don't know what the measurement would be with the 6 lug hubs, but I would guess very similar since the brakes, hubs, and everything line up.
