His is from the 70's man, it's got a 14FF./wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif

I'm not sure, but it should have uprated springs, bigger brakes, and I'd imagine some stuff to make it work better with a camper.

What is a 14FF? How do I tell if I have one? How do I tell if this is actually an oringial camper special or not?

Thanks

A 14FF is a 14 bolt Full Floating axle, and I think you can identify it by the 14 bolts on the differential cover and big hubs sticking out of the rear wheels. There is also a 14 bolt semi-floating axle, but I don't know if it has the big hubs sticking out or not.

An extra battery, 7 wire harness to the bed, and possibly the tranny and engine oil coolers and a bigger radiator. Sorry folks, that was it. You could get this with any GM 3/4 or 1 ton truck. They did not do anything speacial to the drive train, gear ratios etc. Not much different than a trailer pkg. All they do is add a hitch, wiring, and t/e coolers for it. Although on the trailer pkg the gearing does make a difference in what your GCWR ie how big a trailer you can pull would be. The g-ratio does not make a difference in the camper pkg, because your limiting factor is the gvw of the truck.
