I am trying to figure out which Automatic tranny to put behind a 5.0L HO in a Jeep Project I am doing. I want to use a 203 t-case behind it also (used as a doubler). I am looking for something that is strong but not extremly wide or long (damn Jeep wheelbase). What do you think I should use and out of what vehicle would it come from. Also, If you happen to know who might have one (junkyard, fellow wheeler)? Thanks for your help.

A C6 sounds just right for what you need. They are all over, used behind everything from the 4.9 I-6 to the 7.3L diesel, and found in most big FORDs from the 70's and 80's... check your local paper for trucks of that era being parted out, and junkyards should have tons of them, just be sure to get the 4x4 version. the 203 should bolt up to any 4x4 version of it, but bring a template and verify before laying down the cash

I think some Jeepers (I love saying that) use a built C4 to save on space.
