Got a free running Geo Tracker from a co-worker who rolled it a year ago and it was just released from impound. It will cost me $50. to get it towed home its a early 90's
not sure of the year its still in the impound yard until the 5th cops are short handed with the holidays.

Anyway the truck hasn't been started for 14 months and it was rolled and has pretty much been leveled as the targo and the windshield are crushed (was a convertible) front right fender is toast as well as the hood. Around 85,000 miles on the odometer. Damn windshield frame is part of the entire body side panel not worth the parts as there are alot of Trackers around cheap.

Thought about scraping her for the motor and ecm. Unsure if I could ever pull off the motor swap not a real wrench guy but thought it was too good to waste. ARe there any parts from this beast I might want to hang onto?

Any suggestions on what to do withit? Not sure if there is much of a market for Tracker parts I am a Samurai guy myself.

Thanks

Scott

You can certainly make some $$ off this even if you don't use the parts. If a 4 door use the front disk rotors
and calipers on your sami as an an upgrade, If its a 3 door, use them for a rear disk conversion.

Motor and harness are saleable, pull the plugs and oil the cylinders. let it sit, oil again, roll it over without
plugs, then fire it. do a compression test to verify condition.

trackkick guys will probably want misc parts as well.

stuff i would pull would be motor, all efi electronics, wiring, ecm, powersteering if equiped. front seats if still good.

if it is a 4x4 i would pull the front diff and entire rear axle for the gears and to make a hybrid rear axle with. i would also keep the driveshafts or at least the large drive shaft flanges as they are hard to find for samurais

if it was a 2wd with auto trans i would keep the trans and all linkages ect.

keep the clutch cable too as it is a good upgrade on a samurai.

you could use the 1.6 exhaust manifold on a stock 1.3 to help increase flow sorta like a cheap man's header.

i am sure there are a lot of other things i have forgotten about that would be worth keeping.

if your trackick is a 4x4 with an auto trans i would like to buy the front and rear diffs from you. if it a 2 wd with auto trans i would like to buy the trans and linkage and rear driveshaft from you. i am located in southern minnesota. where at in wisconsin are you at?

I'd get the seat's out of it as well (if there any good). Trac/Kick seat's are really comfortable in a Samurai. If nothing else, you could cut all the bad off and build you a rock/tube buggy out of what's left of it.

Guys I am in southwest wisconsin near LaCrosse the sheriff wouldn't release the vehicle today do to a snow storm and a shortage of deputys so next Monday I shall get the beast home. The owner has mailed me the the title, not sure of the year as I can't get near the vehicle in the impound. It is a 4x4 w/manual shift.

Will post what I find when I get it home.
