late 60s early 70s ford two wheel drives, IHC pickups and scouts (these require different input shafts), jeep pickups and wagoneers, as well as a few dodges.

According to my last issue of JP magazine some CJ-5's and 6's also had them stock, but they had to be special ordered.

check the for sale board. Dave in Ohio had a couple of granny low T-18's for sale a couple of weeks ago.

Also look for J series Jeep Pickups. They had the T-18 from the factory. This option would save having to buy adapters to make things fit.

From your profile I see that you are putting the T-18 in a CJ5. One thing to keep in mind is the input shaft length. The IH trannies typically had a really long input shaft which would make for a very short driveshaft. The '76-'79 CJ's have the shortest input shaft offered in a Jeep as well as the granny gear. Check out jeeptech.com. Terry Howe has put together a ton of information on Jeep transmissions and all other mechanicals. I put a '79 Jeep T-18 in my '75 and it wasn't too bad, but I did have some things come up which I didn't expect. When you get ready, e-mail me and I can tell you some things to watch out for on the install.

Does anybody know what 4 speed trannys were offered in j10 pickups aside from t18's, or is that it? I'm going to check out a complete drivetrain from a j series truck that has a 4 speed. Guy doesn't know what it is though and I'd like to know without having to go look at it if only t18's were offered. What TC's would have been mated to it in the j10? Would the j10 have a long or short output shaft? Thanks again for the rest of the info, Brian

Some after 1979 may have had T176. ALL T18s have " T18" cast into the case (Iron case) or a serial number beginning with 1301 (1301xxxx).
Note that many of the '76 to '79 CJs that came with the optional T18 4 speed had a first gear ratio of 4:1, few were the more desireable 6.32:1.Full size Cherokees and trucks from the same peroid usually had the 6.32, but the input shaft is too long. Mine came from a Cherokee, and I had the input shaft changed to the short CJ type, while keeping the granny gear.

Actually, all of the '77 to '79 T18's were the low gear variety. These are the years of the T18A. It's the years prior to '77 that have the 4:1 ratio. The jeep tech page will confirm this.
