Hi, I am thinking about getting a weber carb. for my 87 sami. How do these carbs hold up on the trail? I have heard that they stall on inclines or rough terrain. Also Is there a noticeable power difference over the stock carb. Thank you, Lance

I have a 86 Samurai and installed a 32/36 Weber Carb. The power increase was very noticeable over stock. Throttle response was greatly increased. The only bad thing is when you go up a steep incline. Slight inclines are no problem. There is no stalling problem that I can think of caused by going fast over rough terrain, just steep inclines. Hoped I helped. C-YA.

I have an 87 with a weber from 4wdhardware.com (299.00).
If I had a chance to do it over (I will soon), I would go with another model that doesn't suck and die up steep terrain when you need it most. Also over bumpy stuff it studders. I did however notice a big increase over stock. I also did a 2 1/4" exauhst, plus a twin chamber flowmaster, no cat, and a K & N filter charger.
The stock engine rips with this set up,except for up the steep.. Bummer..

Everything you've heard here is true. I've had a Weber 32/32 on my Samurai for about 5 years now. I absolutely love the carb due to its simplicity and its very significant horsepower gain over stock. However, it does want to flood when climbing steep hills, especially if you hit a bump while climbing. If you sit there idling on a steep hill, you have to keep your foot on it to keep the revs up, or else it will die.

It's annoying, but not enough of a detriment to cancel out its other benefits. It's something that you just get used to.

i think if you goto off-road.com they have an article on how to fix that. i could be wrong but it seem to me that i have read an article on how to fix that, it requires plugging up a certain port and redrilling a new one. sorry i cant give an exact answer, but i know its out there
