I'm finding the air/fuel adjustment for a Weber 32/36 difficult to do. The instructions say to move the screw out 2 turns then, move it in or out to get the best air to fuel ratio. My first crack at the adjustment was 3 turns. This would mean I needed a bigger jet. I checked a spark plug and it was black, mixture too rich. Second time adjusting it, 2 turns seemed okay. While doing some vacuum line check, I decided to try adjusting the carb to the vacuum gauge. The vacuum was a steady 19. I turned the air/fuel screw in until the vacuum dropped below 19. I then turned the screw back until it was 19 again. Presently, the screw is at 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 turns out.
Does anyone have an opinion on adjusting a Weber this way. I go in for emission testing in another month and need it to pass. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
