I have recently become the proud owner of an 8274. I am wondering if the solenoids are the same as, say a Ford starter solenoid? A long while ago I was told that the solenoids in the Warn winch were different..Are they? They look just like the one on my CJ fenderwell. Unless the winch I have has the wrong ones in it now.. I am going to do some preventitave maintainance and plan to replace them. What is the suggestion??? As always, this boards help and compliments are appreciated...seeya...

I got BBQ last time this came up, but they are the same as fords, In fact my 8274 been running ford for the last 10 years. You do not have to get them from warn. In fact warn going to get them from the parts house as ford solenoids.

the warn solenoids look like fords, but are not identical. they have twice as much copper and a better winding in them. besides that, they only cost about 12 bucks, which is the price of a good quality ford solenoid anyway.
