I thought you guys might get a kick out of this one. I took this job several months ago and I'm flying to Dallas friday to take measurements and get the ball rolling. When I took the job it was a theory no looking at it all I can say is damn, that's a lot of Ford. It'll be in Phoenix in October to get a 19" lift and 46" tire at my buddy's shop. While it's there I got to do front and rear shock hoops and front and rear traction bars. Here's the kicker, the guy wants the ladder bars to look "proportional". How do you make anything look proportional on such a monstrosity? I guess I better figure it out pretty quick. Oh well I guess that's what happens when people get too much money, they build really big Fords.

Actually there might be. The front will be a problem because of THE 19" OF LIFT! can you believe how nutty tall that is? The owner of the shop has a 14" lift on his truck and can't get enough angle out of conventional yokes to turn the front end. As for the rear from what I've been told it'll have 3 driveshafts to cover the extra length. That won't be a problem for me unless the truck has any wheel travel. If that's the case the ladder bar length will have to be considered or binding could occur. All fun stuff for me to figure out. I'm thinking I may have underbid this job more then a little/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif. Oh well every little bit helps to get the Heep on the rocks where it belongs. Happy Jeepin'

The laws in AZ aren't that bad, adding mudflaps and lowering the headlights should keep it legal. As for other states, I severly doubt it'll be legal. With all that weight it definately won't be a speed demon. I wish he had gone with an F450, I'd feel better if it had a big a$$ dana 135 out back. I'll be sure to post pics. I't going to be at the SEMA entrance this year, and it's going to be in several magazines so I'm sure you'll all see plenty of it. And there's plenty to see cause damn, that's a lot of Ford.

Travis,
I had to fly out to Reno yesterday from McCarron airport in Las Vegas. Because of the 8 ft height of my F250 I have to park out back in the oversize parking lot, which also happens to be where the High Rollers get picked up by the Limo's. I saw one of those limos built out of a Ford Excursion. It was massive. The license plate was "FOX 01".

Matt M38A1,
I've been screaming the same thing, there's a few limos up in vegas that require a police escort, I don't know if this one will too. I don't think Limo and practical can be used in the same sentence. The word Monster makes it even worse.

Yeah exactly!!

The picture on the front page looks fake. I actually thought it was a joke at first. Then I looked at the build photos! The stretch looked fine until I realized they were putting the bed out back!! The photos taken outdoors show the true dimension (lengthwise). There's no way anybody other than a specialty company (who can arrange police escorts) could run that thing. What a waste.

They are going to need rear-wheel steering to navigate around town. Heck- even interstate turn-offs will require rear-wheel steering for this thing! Let me guess...the bed will actually be a sauna, right?

Actually the bed will be a jacuzzi, no I'm serious. I think the guy wants a front drive shaft although I can't tell you why he needs one. If I were responsible I'd demand some heavier axles but that's not my call, I'm just doing the ladder bars and shock hoops. I really don't want to get roped into anything else on this monstrousity but money talks and need some. I'll post some pics of the monster when I get back, should be good for a laugh.
