I wouldn't put a lot of stock into an NP231 for strength. I'm not too crazy over the case configuration. It tends to explode. That's not a good thing when you're climing a rock or a hill.
You can beef the darned things up, but then there go the costs. For the dollar invested, were the project mine, I'd opt for a flipped Dana 300 with a TeraLow (or the like) kit.
