Before I ask my question, I would like to thank everyone for sharing their valuable experience in this BBS. I have learned a great deal since joining and reading the posts. I recently bought an 85 CJ7 with a 4.2L 258 engine for $500. My friend was the former owner and although I am quite sure that this jeep has never seen a dirt road, but he is the typical car "neglecter" who does not change his oil or believe in the benefits of routine maintenence. The frame is cherry, rims decent, engine??, body needs TLC and all of the usual BS with the 85s. Well, I am definitely not a mechanic, but I WILL restore this Jeep if it kills me. I need help with the vacuum system now. I did a good job rebuilding the carter 2bbl, but I never tagged the vacuum lines(I have no trust that they were on right to begin with). The diagrams are a nightmare as well because nothing (relays and stuff)seem to be in the right area! What the hell am I supposed to do with this mess? PUNT? Is there a way to bypass some of this vacuum crap and still pass emissions? I would be very grateful for some help with this one. Thank you.
